While admiringly referred to as "drill's leading lady," Sasha Go Hard has long tried to diplomatically dissociate herself from that scene. "I came a long way from my old songs," she told FADER last year. "It's nothing wrong with that, but I'm not a drill rapper. I am from Chicago and Chicago's scene is drill, but I'm switching it up just to show people I could be different," she reemphasized with BET this month. As such, her new mixtape, Round 3, is a concise, well-edited bid for reconsideration, featuring verses from LE1F and Kreayshawn. Like LE1F, Sasha has developed a unique voice and an ear for beats from very different spheres, positioning her well to navigate between whichever worlds she chooses. Diplo-produced opener "Damn" throbs and screeches, at turns competing with and framing Sasha's ferociously sweet-faced enunciation. Below, watch Sasha's recent "Pretty Fly" video, followed by her interview with FADER TV.
