Growing up in Tel Aviv amidst its bustling night scene, Naama Tsabar developed a strong love for music. After studying in Israel and moving to New York, she's fused her first love for sound with her second love for art. Tsabar's interested in blurring the line between on-stage performance and the creation of music within a museum or gallery setting. (You may remember her giant, interactive "Speaker Walls" in MoMA PS1's 2010 Greater New York exhibition.) A few weeks ago we visited Naama at her solo show, Propagation, up now at Thierry Goldberg. She gave us a tour of the space, showing us the felt and paper instruments she created for the show, as well as the speakerbox she built to amplify their sound within the gallery's walls. Visitors are welcome to interact with the pieces and Tsabar performs in the gallery with a different set of musicians each week. Catch her last two performances Sunday the 14th and the 21st at 5PM or stream them live here.
