The original version of Killer Mike’s "Anywhere But Here" was a compact song about Mike driving through various areas of New York and Atlanta where he's seen death. It's a bleak song, told with humanity, and it worked mostly because it was just Mike (and Emily Panic on the chorus). Here, he adds Chamillionaire, who, when he wants to, approaches some of the melodic sadness that Z-Ro nails so consistently. That said, El-P’s beat is perfect for Chamillionaire to play around with, moving from sad sing-song to nimble fast raps. It's a good use of his talent, and it's the first time in awhile that he sounds rejuvenated.
