Based on title alone, it's pretty clear that Halls’ "Roses For The Dead" is not going to be a very happy song. That's alright though. Halls is great at creating these dark mini-universes of hushed vocals and rising bass swells that tap into that inner gloom that is occasionally fun to wallow in. Which is not to say that "Roses For The Dead" isn't fun to listen to. It's expertly constructed and, more importantly, overwhelmingly pretty. Ark is out October 15th on No Pain in Pop. Just in time for Halloween and also wandering through wherever you live for months in the middle of winter.
