Stream Dan Deacon’s Album America

August 27, 2012

In an eloquent note on his website, legendary DIY figure Dan Deacon calls his new album, America, a "layering of dichotomies." The music was inspired by his love of cross-country travel; the lyrics explore his frustration with Uncle Sam. Since releasing 2009's Bromst, Deacon has composed pieces for percussion ensembles and chamber orchestras and scored Francis Ford Coppola's ghost movie Twixt. A refined, classical aesthetic and electronic kookiness mesh wonderfully on America. "Crash Jam" is a static-heavy head rush, whereas "USA III Rail" is a sophisticated arrangement of horns and chimes. As a whole, the album is one epic work of art. America is out tomorrow on Domino Records.
