In a fine example of wordplay linking rap culture to martial arts, Huntsville, Alabama's Jackie Chain released his Bruce Lean Chronicles mixtape yesterday. On inspirational jam "Reach for the Sky," Chain joins Chinky Brown in singing I keep my head in the clouds over a vibrant, rattling beat by Happy Perez. Additional standouts are a clever Diplo-produced ode to marijuana called "First Love" and 2011's luxurious, slow-riding "Parked Outside" featuring Big K.R.I.T. and Bun B. Frequent Chain collaborators Block Beattaz and DJ Burn One also produce tracks. Chain's proper debut on Universal Records, I Ain't Slept in Weeks, drops later this year; in the meantime download Bruce Lean Chronicles below.
