For a long time, it felt like the general perception of disco was that it was music that was meant for inside clubs at night time. I'm not sure when that flipped, and it turned into the perfect music for dancing outside in the sun with a lot of attractive people and also somehow an older dude with a Gandalf beard that smokes weed out of an old timey pipe? But it happened, and I'm glad for it. Cécile & Refleksie are a pair of Italians that revel in the kind of early-evening-dancing-in-your-swimsuit-because-it's-somehow-still-90-degrees, ecstatic dance music that can carry itself on not much more than a strong rubberband of a bassline, a couple well placed bongos and tasteful synth work, which is exactly what you can hear on "First Sparkle," a song that is pretty perfect for the next time you are having a 1500 person barbeque in your backyard next to your own personal pool. "First Sparkle" comes from an upcoming 12-inch/digital release from Modular’s Club Mod series. It also features Cécile & Refleksie's "Your Eyes" as well as remixes from Axel Boman and Fred Cherry, who is one half of Canyons. Look for the record August 7th.
