King L, the Chicago rapper formerly known as King Louie, dropped his first full-length mixtape since last year's Hardbody today. (Another tape released this March, Motion Picture, was primarily a collection of collaborations and b-sides). Showtime is a freewheeling, 22-track release that boasts a diverse beat selection and Louie's familiar brand of deadpan humor. It features Fredo Santana, Big Homie Doe and Fatzmack, as well as production by Young Chop, C-Sick and LoKey. Notable highlights include the melodic Shorty K collaboration "Hitta Shit," the dense lyrical workout "On Da Road" and the Young Bleed-sampling "Full of Dat Weed."
