The hugely gifted Scottish producer Rudi Zygadlo, contemporary electronic music's closest thing to a Frank Zappa, returns this summer with a new single called "Melpomene," named after the Greek muse of tragedy. She's supposedly invoked to write beautiful lyrics, which according to a recent interview with Dazed and Confused will play an increasing role in Zygadlo's work. For now, the track's the beneficiary of a seriously beautiful video directed by Nick Rutter, full of scraped knees and brown boots over ivy, drifting rally cars and cigarettes lighting the night sky. "Melpomene" comes out July 2nd via Planet Mu, who'll also release Zygadlo's new LP, Tragicomedies, this September.
