Lil Boosie has been found not guilty of first degree murder, following a weeklong trial in his hometown, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, was accused of hiring Michael Louding to kill 35-year-old Terry Boyd, who was shot in his home in October 2009.
During the trial, the prosecution played the jury Boosie's "187" and "Bodybag." A computer forensics expert testified that the track, including a verse saying, Yo Marlo/ He drive a Monte Carlo/ That bitch gray, I want that nigga dead today, was recorded on the night Boyd was killed. The expert aditionally claimed that Boosie recorded lines of "Bodybag" (Rock a bye baby...Curtain call) minutes after Boyd's death. Boosie's attorneys argued that the lyrics were re-sampled, recorded earlier and were presented "just to slander" Boosie.
Boosie was arrested in October 2008, with a blunt and a handgun in his car. In September 2009, he pled guilty to the charge of marijuana possession. After violating probation on that charge, he was was sentenced to four years in prison. Boosie was charged with Boyd's murder in June, 2010. Now cleared of that murder charge, he remains in prison, where he's serving an 8-year sentence for conspiring to bring drugs into prison in 2011.
