Now that summer's approach is pushing the sun higher in the sky, breezy new music is on the way from Polarsets, the Newcastle trio with a memorable vocalist and fairly short discography, including their incredible debut single, "Sunshine Eyes," for Kitsuné last spring and a whirling recent collaboration with Unicorn Kid. "Tropics," whose video is above, opens the band's forthcoming Exotica EP with beachside marimba, muted guitar and a story of time-busting young romance full of special necklaces and waterfalls. It's pretty music for coconut drinks, positive-sounding but with a scary fragility that's hard to pin down, hinted most directly on "Distance," a breakup song with an unconvincing time heals any wounds chorus. The full release is streaming below, out June 18th via Euphonios.
