London young guns Palace Skateboards, who were recently dubbed 2012's European "Skateboard Brand of the Year," drop their new project this week: a collection of athletic "trill tops" in collaboration with OG Manchester sportswear company Umbro. On teaming up with the iconic football brand, Palace chief Lev Tanju remarks: "I’ve always been reluctant to do any of those dumb obvious collaborations that make streetwear perverts happy: big garish headphones made out of Tyler the Creator’s bogeys or whatever. I don't think anyone saw this thing coming and that’s what I set out to do. Suuurprise, bitches!" Palace released a video filmed on VHS to launch the collection, and it's a dose of ’90s nostalgia: young football fans hanging and getting rowdy at the local pub, bucket hats galore, popped collars, girls in huge hoop earrings and ponytails. They pound beers, shoot pool, make out and yell at the TV, until finally breaking out into a mini rave, soundtracked by Joy Orbison. You can catch a few glimpses of kids rocking the gear from the collection in the video, but for a closer look, check out Hanon, and for some more background on the collaboration, head over to Umbro's blog.
