GLC, “Angry Birds” (Prod. by DJ Ayres) MP3

February 21, 2012

"Angry Birds" is basically GLC’s version of R. Kelly's "Real Talk," a not totally rock solid defense of his relationship, where GLC consoles his girlfriend amid accusations from jealous women that he's cheating. The genius of the DJ Ayres-produced track is that GLC's rapping over a sample from "Laura Palmer's Theme" from Twin Peaks, where owls have some kind of dark, ungodly surveillance power. GLC's new EP, Fellowship and Congregate, also features production by Lunice, Derek Allen and Nacey, and it comes out February 28th on Ayres' label T&A. Stream the whole thing on their site now.

And totally unrelated, but worth mentioning: The Rub, the legendary monthly party DJed by Ayres, Cosmo Baker and DJ Eleven that ran in Park Slope's Southpaw for the past decade, has moved to The Bell House in Gowanus, because Southpaw is turning into a children's tutoring center. The trio's last night at the venue was chronicled by the New Yorker in a post called "The Death of Park Slope."
