Straining at the very top of his vocal register, The Men’s Nick Chiericozzi sounds as emotional as he ever has on "Open Your Heart," now streaming at NPR. Chiericozzi turns any urgency or anger once present in his chords into sweetness and a bit of teenage desperation. The Men used to skew louder and more punk, but this song's romance and melody is firmly in the realm of power pop. Bob Mould and Paul Westerberg would be psyched to hear Chiericozzi singing like this. The Brooklyn band's forthcoming record on Sacred Bones is also called Open Your Heart and will be out March 6. Pre-order it on iTunes.
