After spending some time with "Marienbad" it feels like a significant move for Julia Holter, who is great at taking lofty concepts and making them sound completely accessible, even when they're largely ambient or cloaked in haze. "Marienbad" is none of those things, instead going for crisp vocals and Carnegie Hall-ready orchestral bits. The video, directed by Rick Bahto, is similarly abstract but not hard to follow, with intersecting projections crossing each other and then letting up for moments of clarity.
