Karlheinz Weinberger has a decades-old cult following for his photographs chronicling the radical style of Elvis-obsessed teens in 1960s Zurich, boys who imitated James Dean but ended up looking more like gay cowboys, and a new book focuses on denim's uber-important role in that mid-century macho fashion. Called Jeans, the posthumous monograph uses a collection of Weinberger's work to explore just how important the all-American fabric was to post-war rebels. We also get a refresher course in the timelessness of denim styles—most of the outfits in the book would look just as fresh in 2011 as they did in 1958. Jeans is available online at ArtBook.com, and while you're at it, check out our interview with John Waters, who talks about his love for Weinberger's work. (Via DazedDigital)
