Every other Thursday, Stephanie Osei asks employees and employers at our favorite shops around the world what their most cherished in-store item is for our column Staff Affections. This week, she caught up with co-founder Milan Moone of the Haarlem, Holland-based botique Number Nine about the Penfield Rockwool Jacket.
Tell us about the Penfield Rockwool Jacket? It's perfect for the winter. It's insulated with premium 80/20 down, but it's still stylish. The light brown leather shoulder yoke and shearling collar give you that old-school, outdoor look.
How did the store get its start? The store started seven years ago. We just found a lack of good store's in Haarlem, so we filled in that gap. When we first started, we did lots of exclusive brands from Scandinavia. At the time, there were not a lot of people selling Scandinavian brands. Now you see more stores doing this, and so we've expanded to include companies from France and England.
What can you tell us about style in the Netherlands? Maybe the typical Dutch person is not known for their great fashion sense, but there is a group of people here that are influenced by Scandinavian design and combining that with British and vintage influences.
