Cass McCombs has bestowed us with not one but two, full albums this year. Both are super solid releases, and, like most of McCombs' records, each has at least two or three songs that worm their way deeply—almost unexpectedly—into your heart and brain. Wit's End had the addictive and melancholy "County Line," and it's generally agreed on around the office that "Robin Egg Blue" will be Humor Risk’s ear worm. Here, he gives us a reworking of the original. "Robin Egg Blue (Gun Drum Mix)" features additional production by Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmaglij, but it's still got all the telltale tropes of a Cass McCombs great: nursery-rhyme like narration, repetition and a deep and downcast proclamation: What's done is done is done/ What's done is done. Humor Risk will be out November 7th in UK/Europe and the 8th in the US on Domino.
