If you're looking to get weird this afternoon, you could do a whole lot worse than Water Borders’ debut full length Harbored Mantras, which is out basically now (10/11 in the US and 10/10 in the UK) on Tri Angle. Rather than just being weird because it is totally acceptable to make weird music for no reason, the band cut to the core of their sound and delivered an entire album full of wobbly baritone vocals, clanging bells and rainy, gothic (not like goth, but like gothic architecture gothic) vibes. It's sometimes a disturbing listen, but it's never difficult, and that's a pretty hard line to walk successfully.
