Seattle came out early, and they came out in full supportive force for their city’s vitaminwater uncapped LIVE show last night. Turns out Dyme Def and THEESatisfaction went to school together, which helps explain the positive family vibe of the night. DJ DV-One kicked things off before Dyme Def went on, a super high energy crew who (correctly) claim they can’t bring an entourage on stage because they jump around too much. Helluvastate performed with backing film visuals, a rarity at a hip-hop show but a showman’s touch we appreciate. THEESatisfaction came with the admiring support of Seattle luminary and Shabazz Palaces/Digable Planets star Ishmael Butler, and they really lived up to the hype. Looking like twins in matching hair, outfits and hightops, the girls knew how to move on stage and how to get the crowd moving with them. Special thanks to State of the Artist for showing up to back Helluvastate, and to Heineken for hooking up the open bar. This is the last uncapped show for a few weeks, but stay tuned for some serious gems left to come.
