Over the weekend, we found ourselves sunbaked, beer in hand, staring at nothing for hours on end. It was great! Over half that time was spent listening to Pure X’s album Pleasure, which is out on Acephale. It's a record with a lot of rewards if you listen patiently and often. The tempo rarely picks up beyond crawling, and the vocals are intense and sometimes indecipherable. All of these things are positives, because Pleasure is a lasting record. One to wear through multiple copies of and hand down through generations of your kids that probably won't "get it" until they're in college. Now you can listen to the whole thing for free on the internet, which is a good way to get yourself prepped for listening to it a billion more times in the future. Pure X play two shows this weekend. They're at 285 Kent on Friday, July 8th, and the Ding Dong Lounge on Saturday, July 9th. Both of them will be awesomely devastating.
