Director Weston Currie's first installment in a series of videos for Grouper’s double album A I A is implicitly terrifying—with all of the action built into ambiguous and slow hyper-slow dissolves and tracking shots. A hard-looking woman stands like a sentinel, guarding her home against the vast forest and a nameless watcher, stalking creepily in the trees. Grouper's signature wash of guitars and haunting vocals builds to an appropriately diffuse climax, which ends with the woman stealing through the woods. We wanted to scream, "Don't go in there!" But we couldn't really be sure why.
