Thinking about what has to happen to create an entirely new genre of music is mind breaking. Like, what? WHAT? Are we really done creating entirely new stuff and now just merging everything we like into one massive mess of borderless influences? Pretty much! And that's okay. It keeps things moving and allows for a reverence for what came before. That's precisely what is happening with DJ Melo’s moombahton edit of "Told Ya," a track by Sandro Silva and Isa GT. It's not especially new sounding, but it's not supposed to be. Instead, it's a choppy mixed genre piece of hard percussion that comes from Mad Decent’s Blow Your Head Vol. 2: Dave Nada Presents... Moombahton. Treat it like an essential document of a burgeoning new hybrid genre, or treat it as some shit you can just put on to make people actually dance at your next party.
