Remember in 2008 when Utah Saints remade "Something Good," their 16-year old proto-jock jam that sampled Kate Bush's "Cloudbusting?" Their take was weirdly Dutch-housey and they re-recorded Kate's vocals, Hit Records sound-alike style. This Railcars version is nothing like that at all. Aria Jalali has been working on a Hounds of Love cover album for quite some time, raising funds to take off work for a couple days and press up cassettes on Kickstarter. $893 later, the growling, analog-manipulated EP is nearly here, out next month on Crash Symbols and Amdiscs. When Jalali sings that iconic I just know that something good is going to happen, barely finishing the phrase, drowning among a sea of melted tape and LFO, it's one of the most convincingly aspirational renderings there's ever been. You really hope the sun does come out, because things sound kind of fucked up now.
