Every week a different FADER staff member will pick a clothing item or accessory that he or she has lately been spending a lot of time with—or would like to—and write a little love letter to it. We would’ve done a column on who we’re dating but that seemed a little bit much. This week The FADER's Publisher Andy Cohn writes about Young L's Pink Dolphin Clothing.

Listening to Young L's unique space-aged beats and gruff raps conjures up a lot of images, but I'm not sure a Pink Dolphin is one of the first things that comes to mind. That said, nothing should surprise us with Young L (or any of his West Coast cohorts), least being his brightly colored apparel line that he was seen rocking on the cover of FADER 71.

I got to meet and hang out with Young L a few weeks ago at The FADER FORT by FIAT in Austin. We chatted about many things, and he seemed excited about his Pink Dolphin gear. The conversation naturally continued over Twitter (21st-century friends!) and before long I walked into my office to a sweet package of PD goods, including this crazy T-shirt which, to me, at least, is the Pink Dolphin merged with an Orca Whale and the San Jose Sharks hockey team logo, all to create one stunning visual that is both perplexing and visually satisfying on levels I'm not sure I comprehend. Whether or not I understand how, this shirt manages to address many of my personal interests: hip hop, T-shirts, bright colored logos, ice hockey, rare colored dolphins and killer whales.
