It's no secret that Nathan Williams teamed up with Zach Hill to record an entire Wavves album that we've mostly never heard. But the songs we did hear—especially "Cool Jumpers"—were great, if overly busy. It was Williams throwing every single idea he had at the wall and seeing what worked. Somehow this meant that he was able to capture Nirvana's whole I-don't-care-so-much-that-I-actually-care-a-lot vibe. He ended up scrapping the whole thing and simplifying his sound. Cutting out the extra shit and making a near perfect pop punk record that we now know as King of the Beach. But it was only a matter of time until some of those other songs were released, and last week Williams threw "Goldy Lox," "Hula Hoop" and "Glued" on his own blog—we listened to them a lot then, but are only now wrapping our heads around them. They're messier, more depressing and, honestly, pretty great. Hopefully he releases the rest of the record soon as well. In other Wavves news, he's teamed up with Mishka for one of those awesome Simpsons bootleg tees that's actually inspired by a bunch of older Simpsons bootleg t-shirts. Weed is involved!
