Yesterday worldstarhiphop.com, ground zero for rap videos and abominations, videos of rappers fighting and also sexy videos, went down for a couple of hours. People blamed the Department of Homeland Secuity, the folks that were responsible for last years takedown of copyright infringing sites OnSmash and Rap Godfathers. Struggling actor and twitter entrepreneur 50 Cent seized and inserted himself at the center of the resulting micro-blogging frenzy:
Come drive time those claims were tempered by Angie Martinez. Curtis told her that he's got a lawsuit against WSHH because they put his head on an ad for I Am Robot (or something?!) but was using his high profile lol's only to entertain: "I might know somebody who could do it but I didn't do that. Why would I do a thing like that? Because I can?" Angie talked to World Star CEO/Owner Q, too. He reminded those hyperventilating that his site has been down before, once for 8 long months in 2007. That dark stretch was the result of a hateful anti Ne-Yo/soft core hacker but this time, Q was just having difficulties with his server. Those things have to be updated constantly, especially now that your grandmother stopped watching American Idol and wants to use the internet. More love, more money, more "candy" videos, more problems. We understand! We don't, really, but we're looking at a pile of cords right now, thinking about the part of the (first) Sex And The City Movie where Carrie grabs a first-gen iPhone and says "I can't work this thing" right before Big doesn't marry her, and worrying about it.
