Last year was a weird year for Yeasayer. They released Odd Blood, their excellent sophomore album that gained them like 09435730953 fans and made some critics kind of mad (except for "O.N.E.," which everyone loved). We wholeheartedly embraced the record, put them on the cover of FADER #66, and spent a lot of time thinking about how they were able to frame love and loss and, like, touring against an apocalyptic backdrop. It's not a difficult listen by any means, but it's an incredibly fun one. That, in itself, is an achievement. If you've ever caught the band live, then you know how dynamic they are. Chris Keating flails around on stage, there's all sorts of synthesizers and glowing orbs. They put a lot into their performance when they don't have to, reworking songs to better fit the live setting in great ways. Over the holidays, they released a live album that's pretty much a greatest hits from their two records—it's worth however much you think it's worth, and accordingly you can pay that much.
