Jamaican Menswear Mecca Base Kingston Debuts A Section For The Ladies

The Jamaican menswear store Base Kingston has been outfitting the most sartorially inclined Jamaican men with threads from Original Penguin, Converse, Rocksmith and co-owner Jason Panton's I & I Clothing Co. label since it opened earlier this year. Last weekend the store threw a party for the newest component to its ensemble, a specialized ladies section called Belle, curated by Jamaican songstress Tami Chynn and designer/friend Lubica. The collection includes a variety of causal designs from overseas and local labels, supplying a diverse range for choosy Kingstonian women who've grown tired of having to hunt for decent day-to-day wear. Chynn and Lubica's personalized tee shirt designs headlined the addition. They use the iconic profiles of strong-willed characters such as Coco Chanel, Sophia Loren, Frida Khalo and Billy Holiday to give a clean and simple look. It seems the Base Kingston lady patrons took that sartorially inclined gesture seriously, as people were hungrily snatching up the pieces over cocktails and cupcakes.
