Store Report: Cire Trudon

November 09, 2010

Our apartments are usually deodorized by a fresh spritz of Febreeze or those damned Glade plug-ins, but, in our dreams we've certainly ventured into couture candle territory. We've sniffed everything from Comme des Garcons to Diptyque, but, nothing's ever come close to Cire Trudon. The landmark candle company began in 1643 and soon became the royal wax manufacturer for such fans as Napoleon, Louis XIV, and Marie Antoinette. The maison just opened up a shop of its own on Bond Street that's as magical as their alchemy itself. The long-lasting perfumed paraffin-free vegetable wax is the same as it was when Napoleon lit up, which makes it all the more cool. And their scents range from manly and spicy (try Ernesto) to floral and femme (try Pondichery), so, there's no excuse to carry on with your funk.
