Sometimes it seems like Mount Kimbie consists of the most patient dudes on earth. Like their cohort and sometime co-performer James Blake, they have an almost conceptual understanding of musical space, as though each element they allow to bleed in is carefully mapped to support the rest of the structure—construction workers laying foundation. In this live version of "Ruby," they're content to let the ambiance steep for awhile, not getting to the payoff until the shift in composition at about 3:30, when new synths swoop in and the beat takes over gingerly. They know beauty, too, obviously. Another live track from this Berlin set will appear on their Blind Night Errand EP, out November 29 on Hot Flush. UK tour dates after the jump.
