The gates open for the FYF Fest 2010 in just a couple hours (11AM PT, to be exact), so to motivate any of you Los Angeleans who are sitting around with nothing to do on this beautiful Saturday, we put together a little mix of artists appearing. We will also have a special correspondent, Maud Deitch, on site to report on all the shenanigans. Below is her warm-up post, and below below is the mix. After you're done with both, check the full flyer after the jump and go get tickets!
So I just have to admit it, as a resident of the fine city of Los Angeles I sometimes get jealous of everyone New York City, with their roof parties and free concerts in Central Park and Governor's Island and whatever that park is called in Williamsburg where a thunderstorm caused a treacherous stampede of 20-somethings in cut-off jean shorts and flannel. We don't have very many summer festivals here. Maybe it's because we're too busy driving out to Malibu to play beach blanket bingo, but sometimes I just want to drink keg beer from a plastic cup while a buzz band fights with terrible acoustics and angry birds. This weekend, however, everything is going to change. Thanks to FYF Fest, I will spend my Saturday in the sun watching bands and soaking up the fact that summer is over on the East Coast and I have another few months of forest fires and beach days. With performances from FADER coverdudes Wavves and Ariel Pink and The Rapture, as well as Delorean, Best Coast, Big Freedia and what feels like a million more (including stand-up from Janeane Garofalo!).
