Every week a different FADER staff member will pick a clothing item or accessory that he or she has lately been spending a lot of time with—or would like to—and write a little love letter to it. We would’ve done a column on who we’re dating but that seemed a little bit much. This week Mobolaji Dawodu writes about Jansport's Right Pack Monochrome Collection.
Back in the school days of my youth, more than likely you were either wearing an Eastpak or a Jansport—and from what I remember, Jansport always kind of had the edge. As time passed, I believed I'd graduated from backpacks in general, moving on to the ever-so grown up and stylish messenger bag or briefcase, but after a bit of neck and shoulder pain I realized that was not really the move. So after years of searching for that right bag (from Chinatown to army-navy to Old Navy) and trying a few totes here and there, I'm back to where I started off. Jansport's new line of backpacks are IT. Not only is my back balanced with two shoulder straps, but the new colors they have come out with are NUTS! A full line of monochromatic packs in very classy, very adult purples, mustards and browns. If you're out there in the grown-up world still carrying one of those messenger bags or a briefcase, its time to grow up and get a new Jansport. Your back will thank you.
