Barcelona sun-spinners Delorean blissed out a crowd of ravers and other assorted party kids yesterday afternoon, playing the free Music on the Oval series in Stuytown. Party kids and, somewhat alarmingly (then happily) actual kids turned suddenly radiant whilst dancing with their parents, dodging the rare tobacco cloud or balls-high fête enthusiast. In any case, nowhere was the welcome schizophrenia of the attendees more apparent than in the location and in the organic, almost family barbecue tone of the show: if you didn't know, Stuytown in mid-afternoon is damn beautiful. For the first time, people chatting mid-concert wasn’t a nail in the head of fun times. They chugged tangerine lemonade hybrids like full-on junkies, but the wholesomeness of the project—sun, breeze, serious jamming—was hard to be cold about, even for the music snobs and cynics, at least four of whom were heard saying—loudly—“they’re killing it!”
