After the extinction of the legendary Bay Area band Man is the Bastard, Bastard Noise took over. Reducing the numbers and focusing heavily on the electronic squeal MITB used to accentuate their crushing, Bastard Noise levitated into some other strange oblivion. In their current incarnation, however, they—led by almighty Eric Wood—have returned to the punishing bass ways of MITB. "Through Modern Times (March of Trolls)" finds its way up and down the fretboard and skittering across the snare to land somewhere between hardcore, metal, prog and the strange music in Japanese cartoons. Currently on tour, Bastard Noise hit New York this weekend and Monday. We plan on being there to serve the skull.
