With the release of Lil B's treatise on "The Age of Information" (and the best ad-lib of all time, "everything is now... on the internet"), he's possibly the most relevant and complex cultural commentator out, a dude who made his career by... putting everything on the internet. "Real Life" is another one of his serious-statement pieces, the original version a depressing death tale with a tinge of hope (or resignation). Pictureplane, though, isn't having that. He washes the whole song in ooze and grit, replacing the soulful moans with a distorted, distant howl of a lost soul, Lil B's vocals weaving through the darkness. In short, it's awesome, and underscores Lil B's genius—by giving all of your art up for free online, anyone can do anything with it, and you ultimately transcend genre. So while he may be disturbed by the internet, in a way, the internet is exactly what he is.
