The Heatwave's been a major proponent of "funky bashment"—that is, UK funky with dancehall vocals or at the very least strong Caribbean vibage. They coined the term, and now they're offering this super-hot refix of the unflappable deejay Natalie Storm, emitting her regular sass and power over British rhythmic jitter. Storm's the perfect person to lead the funky bashment charge, too, her music always inching closer to the edge than most of her contemporaries, leaning towards electronic elements to interpret dancehall tradition, and it's a good look for everyone if funky continues in this direction.
