Video: Fat Joe f. Young Jeezy, “Ha Ha (Slow Down Son)”

YES. As previously noted, "Ha Ha" samples Soul II Soul's "Back to Life" a cappella, which is the same track that scored the unforgettable opening credits of one of the best hip-hop movies of all time, Hype Williams' Belly. In fact, the song and the film are so inextricable that Fat Joe's video is a pretty faithful recreation of it, from the beginning slow-motion club shots to the aerial views of New York City at night. Having seen Belly over 62,000 times (give or take), it's somewhat thrilling to see this homage—the video is clearly filmed from the perspective of a fan, rather than a director who ran out of ideas. That scene is all we think about when we listen to "Ha Ha," anyway. How badass did Nas look in those ghoulish green contacts under black lights? Hype got some kind of Oscar for that, right?
