We caught Hot Chip at Terminal 5 here in New York, an enormous venue where they had literally thousands of people going completely bonkers, jumping, hugging, rejoicing. We've yet to see The XX in such a huge club, so the sounds of crazy cheers to the first notes of their first song are a bit of a nice shock. NPR, who recorded both The XX and Hot Chip at Washington, DC's legendary 9:30 Club, sent a reporter to intro the show, and he sounds both frazzled and wildly excited, like announcing from the red carpet of his first big movie premiere. Hot Chip and XX, though, they sound like old pros.
