Yesterday our good friend Nicholas P. Catchdubs tweeted, "I wanna play gyptian 'hold yuh' on the FAO Schwartz piano from Big." Which is a tweet with about as much simple genius as the riddim itself—there are about four instruments on there and all of them, including the drums, are being played with one hand—but its melody is inextricable from your brain, hence everyone on earth remixing it. The normally high-energy soca superstar (and FADER cover star) Machel Montano was inspired to slow it down in tempo with the riddim, enunciating his consonants and singing simile-heavy verses that could make your bed rock. But if you only like your Machel in traditional Trini stylee, his collabo with QQ and Ding Dong on the Drive riddim is appropriately anthemic.
