For the first single off his new record, Chilly Gonzales gave his indelible piano a cascade of handclaps, detaching enough from his virtuosity to let "Never Stop" live as a no-frills dance record, slouching towards house music. Surely Boyz Noise, the producers, had a tiny bit to do with that, but if you've been following the stealthy diversity of Gonzales' career, you know his intentions are to recontextualize his beloved 88-key joint as much as possible, whether channeling it through the rubric of '80s TV soundtrack melodies or releasing the amazing rap remixtape Pianist Envy. The proper record, Ivory Tower, drops later this year, and will surely do justice to all twinkly keyboard everywhere, if not puns, too.
