Maybe more than his own music, this cover of the Cypress Hill classic proves that Yelawolf never does anything half-assed. A lot of times you can hear a new artist's hesitation when freestyling over the canon, but Yela sounds like he's auditioning to be in Cypress Hill in 1993. Dude sounds like he freebases Red Bull all day and we mean that as a total compliment. Pick this up as part of Peter Rosenberg's Cypress Hill mixtape to promote the group's brand new album:
First leak off of my Cypress Hill mixtape, “The Uprising” . The tape features Cypress covers from Yela, Jim Jones, Asher Roth, Noreaga & Imam Thug, Homeboy Sandman, The Lox, and more. “Rise Up” is in stores 4/20 and I’m hosting Cypress Hill and Diamond District Thursday night at SOBs.Give this song a good listen. It’s really hard to not be excited about Yelawolf after this joint.
