It was awesome when Three 6 Mafia won an Oscar, but it was also the beginning of a slide that would include a not great reality show, a couple half-assed club songs that sounded way too happy and a general absence of everything that made anyone like them in the first place. All of the music they've released in the last few months comes off as a self-correcting reaction to that. It's overwhelmingly dark and sinister, and Juicy J especially seems dead-set on reminding us that his recent success doesn't mean anything. The video for "Aint Shit Changed" has him rapping in the middle of the day in front of abandoned houses, which means, at the very least, he's still got a pretty good handle on his own image.
