When 3-6 Mafia got their own reality show, they pretty much proved that they were some of the most self-aware musicians around. And while it might have been a bad look for their recorded output, it was probably a good look for their wallets. Taking that self-awareness a step further, Juicy J recently released "Old Triple Six," a song that takes them back to their horrorcore before horrorcore was even a thing roots, in which he raps about the return of the old 3-6 sound over one of those John Carpenter-esque beats that made them famous in the first place. It's self aware in all the right ways, and impeccably timed, as the internet has seen it fit to throw us a grip of new and old Triple 6 material this week. In addition to said song, erstwhile member Crunchy Black released a video for "U Say U From the Hood." It's not a great song, but it is definitely surreal watching him call dudes out from the middle of a highway in Vegas. It's also notable for his out of breath bit at the end, where he mentions that he's been talking to the only two remaining three six members DJ Paul and Juicy J. Finally, the dudes at Southern Hospitality have been on an early 3-6 kick, posting an excellent compilation of little heard and forgotten tracks from back when the group had beef with Bone Thugs because everyone was rapping really fast about death.
