Azari & III, the Canadian duo of Dinamo Azari and Alixander III, will be the first group to be released by a recently relaunched Trax Records, the classic Chicago label essentially responsible for the birth of house music. This is an incredibly apt fit, as Azari & III sound very much like they came out of 1986, especially with their creepy burner, "Hungry for the Power," which is in spirit and tone greatly recalls all of the label's classics with singer Jamie Principle. I'm hungry for the power/ Hour after hour gets roared Halloween-style over snappy hi-hats and a kitchen sink's worth of drum machines. But what truly makes this song special is the high-toned, echoed diva ad-libs, giving it a truly authentic kick into Hot Mix 5 territory. We're not even sure what to say about the accompanying startling video, directed by Alixander III, which (spoiler alert) involved prostitute murder and pre-cannibalistic body splattering.
