New Collection From Parisian Clothiers Hixsept

December 17, 2009

It's been a busy year for Aurélien Arbet and Jérémie Egry, the designers behind France-based menswear label Hixsept. First off, the former graffiti artists have been on the road with Like Lipstick Traces, a book chronicling the Polaroid diaries of 13 fellow graf writers across the globe, and we caught up with them on the NYC leg of the tour at Reed Space in September. Hixsept makes a journal to go with every collection, a sort of intimate scrapbook of the collective inspiration, and the new one is titled Derive, or "drift" in English. This time around Arbet and Egry toyed with the idea of freeform creation and the very French existential need for emptiness, and there are plenty of big blue references and Satrean tableaux of man in an achingly desolate wilderness. Losing ourselves in an ocean of Hixsept chambray or finding our reflection in one of their eclipse tees is obviously the move next season. Philosopher's whiskers are optional.
