Not to get nerd shit on you but when we first heard Dub Police all-star Emalkay's way-deep bass bomber "When I Look At You" a few months ago we almost had a couple of babies on the spot. It's a song we've heard every single British DJ we've seen in the past three or so months drop midset and completely obliterate the dancefloor, and one of the year's best tracks. Now, Faithless is offering a free download of his remix of "Sun to Me," and it's just as gratifyingly heavy—like the best dubstep producers, Emalkay understands the importance of melody tethered to the sub-bass, and knows when to take it easy in the mix to build up a climax. He's also apparently wicked talented at interspersing the exact right amount of vocals for max drama factor, as the phrase "sun to me" braids into this track as ominously as "when I look at you" did on the prior. We're not so deep on lists (unless it's LISTMANIA, '09 version coming soon) but if we had to make one of those "Oh shit bangers these dudes are gonna run our lives in 2010" jawns, Emalkay would be up at the top. Birmingham, what's up with you guys!
