During the first song of Phoenix's Musicvision session, guitarist Christian Mazzalai says of a certain major 7th in Curtis Mayfield's "Blue Monday People," that it is the chord that changed their lives as a band, that it is "full of sadness yet filled with hope." These seven words might as well be the thesis of our recent cover story on Phoenix, but the rest of the 70-minute video reveals so much about Phoenix, their formation and their favorite songs that we like to think of it as the perfect companion to our story. And if that isn't enough to avoid working today, it has been pointed out in the comments of a recent post that CBS Radio is streaming the new Phoenix remix album in full on their site, including a ton of stuff we haven't heard until just now.
