Though the asterisk in Workwear* is part of the name of the line, neither Dickies nor Alife is clarifying what it means. We're thinking maybe because it's Alife's version of very classic Dickies shirts, shorts, pants and jackets, it could be that you don't necessarily have to work in them, that it's ok to buy them and hang out downtown and pose, with a heavy emphasis on the clothes' durability and slightly updated tailoring and crisper lines. The jackets are our favorite—though the shirts do have a nostalgic Boy Scout feel—looking not totally unlike something we had from Brooks Brothers long ago: golden brown, soft, warm, unpretentious and goes with everything. Maybe that's why they only made everything in dark blue and khaki, foolproof colors for those who stay well dressed but simple. Check the entire collection at Alife.
