Video: The Embassy, “You Tend to Forget”

June 05, 2009

Gothenburg, Sweden's The Embassy, pals of FADER 56 cover stars The Tough Alliance have a new video for "You Tend to Forget." It takes clips from cult film The Day of the Locust, which we have never seen. Naturally we thought we'd turn to good old IMDB for help. This is what they gave us:

Tod Hackett, fresh out of Yale, wants to make it as an art director in late 1930's Hollywood - but he finds himself increasingly distracted by his new neighbor Faye, a would-be starlet with possible designs of her own on a lonely, morose accountant. As Tod is drawn deeper into the lurid private lives of studio bosses and film industry workers, he gradually becomes desperate to know if Faye - or anyone - is capable of real love.

Alright, fair enough. So why is everything on fire? Why is a dude being chased by people in creepy masks? What does that have to do with yet another piece of blissed out acoustic beach pop from Sweden's version of California? This song is making us too relaxed to even bother with any of those questions.
